Documenting a proposal is a very important task. With so many Southern California locations to choose from, the Resort at Pelican Hill is still one of my favorite places to photograph a surprise proposal. With its sweeping ocean views, Tuscan-inspired architecture, and golden California light, it feels like stepping straight into a dream.

Recently, I had the honor of documenting C+B’s iconic proposal at the Resort at Pelican Hill. It was nothing short of magical. We began with the couple strolling through the resort’s iconic rotunda. He led her out under the domed pavilion and dropped to one knee to propose with the ocean as their backdrop. After the proposal, we explored the grounds for portraits, pausing beneath the rotunda, and taking family photos. And with a short drive to the Montage Laguna Beach, we also did an engagement session to commemorate their special day.

What I love most about photographing proposals at Pelican Hill is how intimate yet grand they feel. The resort offers quiet corners for private, heartfelt moments. It also offers some of the most iconic and luxurious scenery in all of Orange County. Every angle is picture-perfect.
